Stephanie is 16 years old and a member of Gateshead Kestrels. She has been swimming competitively for four years. As an athlete with an intellectual disability, Stephanie says she can find it confusing to follow instructions from her coaches but with hard work and dedication, she has overcome this and has achieved success in both freestyle and breaststroke events.

Trained by coaches Paul Smith – himself a two time Paralympic athlete – and his wife Margaret, from Chester Le Street Athletics Club, Stephanie dreams of competing at the 2012 Paralympic Games.
